Ueda is the product of a rich family. He was forced into learning a vatierty of things, music and fighting being some of his earliest of hobbies. His parents never expected anything but the best from their son and when it was not provided he was punished in somewhat abusive ways.
During one of these such punishments Ueda witnessed his first dying man. He was eight years old and, after getting a B on one of his assignments, was abandoned in the woods for a number of hours. During this time the young boy stumbled on a man whe had been attacked and left for dead. He was still alive, however, unable to keep from simply staring in shock, the man died before Ueda's eyes. A fasination with pain and death began to grow in the child after that.
He wanted to be a surgeon. He wanted to have the power to control who lived and who died. He got into medical school without a problem, however two years later during his first internship he was kicked from the surgeon program.
Thus he got his nursing degree instead.
